Having
problems registering?
Please read on and try the suggestions
before contacting us.
Effectively, the whole process
of registration and enrolment has three stages:
First,
you need to register your details with the website.
Second,
you need to click the link in a confirmatory email to validate your
registration.
Third,
you need to enrol on a particular course.
You only need to do the first two stages once. You only need to do the
third stage once for each course.
Understanding this three stage process
helps you to understand at what stage your problem has arisen.
Problem: I am trying to log in, but it
says my username or password is invalid.
Solutions:
1. If this is your first time, click on
the "New Account" link on the right hand side, instead of trying to log
in on the left hand side.
2. Until you have completed the second
stage, your username and password will not be registered. Click on the
link in the email from us. (If you can't find the email, read on).
3. You will need the username and
password that you created when you first registered with this site. If
you have forgotten them, click on the "Help me log in" button at the
bottom of the left hand side, to be emailed a temporary username or
password. Once you have logged in, you can change them again.
Problem: I can't validate my
registration, because I haven't got the email with the link to click on.
Solutions:
1. Check your spam. Because it is an
automated email, it may have been filtered out. We can't stop this - we
don't control your spam filters!
2. Did you try to register with a
fictitious address, or might you have mistyped it? Try re-registering
with a valid or different email address! If the email to you was
undelivered, it will bounce back to us, and we can tell you the reasons
given why it was undelivered.
3. Contact
us. If we are satisfied you are entitled to register, we can
verify you manually, instead of you clicking on the link.
Problem:
I can't validate my
registration, because the link in the email I have received doesn't
work.
Solutions:
We know about this problem. It is caused
by the link
in your email being malformed. We are being told this is a problem
caused by your email client, but we don't consider this explanation is
satisfactory and we are still working on a solution. In the mean time:
1.
If you feel technically competent, take a careful look at the link in
your email. Extract that part of the link that starts "http://..."
through to the end only, and paste it into your browser.
2. Forward the email to us
at moodle@celticknot.org.uk,
and we will sort it for you.
3. Contact
us. If we are satisfied you are entitled to register, we can
verify you manually, instead of you clicking on the link.
Problem:
I can't enrol on the course.
Solution:
1. Are you entitled to enrol? Sorry,
these resources are for course participants. You need to be on the
relevant programme of study, or to have paid to attend the course or to
enrol, in order to be given the enrolment key.
2. Are you being asked for money, when
you have an enrolment key to enter? Scroll down the page to where you
enter the enrolment key, and ignore the request for money!
3. Have you forgotten the enrolment key?
Try asking another course participant.
4. Contact us. If we are satisfied you are entitled to enrol,
we can enrol you manually, instead of you doing it online.
Problem: I have enrolled on the course,
but when I click on the link, it won't take me to the course.
Solution:
1. Have you accepted our terms and
conditions? Go back and tick the box to accept them (after reading
them!).
2. Contact us. Whatever the problem is, it's not a common one
we've come across. But we'll try to sort it out.
